Matthew 6:9-13
"Pray, then, in this way: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9-13 (CSB)
Supporting Scriptures Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, James 5:16
You were never meant to walk through life alone, and that is exactly why God gave you prayer. It is not a hoop to jump through. It is an open line to the Father who already knows your name, your needs, and your heart, and who wants you to bring all of it to Him.
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He was not handing them a rulebook. He was inviting them into relationship. Notice how the Lord's Prayer begins, with who God is, before it ever moves to what we need. That order is a gift. It reminds you that prayer is not about getting God's attention. He already has His attention fully on you. Prayer is about you turning your attention to Him.
Maybe your prayer life feels inconsistent right now. That is okay. This is not about guilt, it is about an invitation to come back. Paul tells us to pray without ceasing, not because God demands perfection, but because He wants ongoing closeness with you throughout your ordinary day, not just a few rushed minutes here and there.
You do not need the right words. You just need to come. God is not waiting for you to get it right. He is simply waiting for you.
Reflect
What would it look like for you to bring God into the ordinary moments of your day, not just your formal prayer time?
Is there something you have been carrying that you have not yet brought to God in prayer? What is holding you back?
How might your week change if you approached prayer as an open conversation rather than a task to complete?
Prayer
Father, thank You that prayer is an invitation, not a burden. Thank You that I do not need perfect words to come to You. Teach me to bring You everything, my worries, my hopes, my ordinary moments. I want to know You more this week. Draw me close. In Jesus' name, amen.
This Week's Challenge
Set aside ten minutes each day this week to be alone with God. No agenda, no pressure to say the right thing. Just show up and talk to Him like He is listening, because He is.
