“So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ Jesus. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.”
Paul’s goal was simple: present every person complete in Christ. Not perfect in performance. Complete — fully developed, mature in their relationship with Jesus. And the fuel for that mission wasn’t his own strength. It was Christ’s power working within him.
Growing older is automatic. Growing up is a choice. Maturity doesn’t happen by simply attending church longer. It grows through intentional pursuit and genuine connection to Jesus.
God isn’t looking for the most polished person in the room. He’s looking for a clean vessel. Usefulness requires holiness — not because God demands perfection, but because a clean vessel is one He can reach for at any moment.
Reflect
1. Where is the gap between growing older in your faith and actually growing up?
2. What have you been adding to Jesus as a source of worth? What would it look like to let that go?
3. What needs to be cleaned out for God to fully use you this week?
Pray
Lord, I don’t want to just get older in my faith — I want to grow up. Search my heart. Show me what needs to go. Make me a clean vessel, ready for every good work You have prepared. Jesus plus nothing is everything I need. Amen.
